The first day of the four day Pongal festival. The last day of the Tamil month Maargazhi.
The day of cleansing; The day to discard old and derelict thoughts, emotions and things;
and drum in celebration of the new found freedom to give up, let go, burn negative energies and renew oneself;

light a bonfire of self-knowledge, fog outside and within, and dispose derelict things in life- habits, vices, attachments that hinders actualisation.

Bhogi represents realization, transformation and purification of the soul;
Seeing everything anew, every day...
Preparation to welcome the harvest festival, a new season in life; Thai Pongal, Makar Sankranti and Lohri, Maattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.
