The Seventh Avtar of Maha Vishnu, Born in Raghuvanshi-Ikshvaku-Suryavanshi Dynasty
In Kosala, Ayodhya to Mata Kausalya and Pita Dasaratha,
with Vaikunta, Ayodhya (Saketa, where liberated souls live) as his abode, Sri Rama !
Rama was also the eighth balabhadra among the 63 salakapurusas.
In Sikhism, Rama is mentioned as one of twenty four divine incarnations of Vishnu in the Chaubis Avtar in Dasam Granth.
Born of Supreme Putra Kameshti Yaga performed by Rishyasringa, the supreme Yogi and husband of Dasaratha’s daughter and Rama’s elder sibling Shantha, Rama is considered the embodiment of Dharma, the ideal man (Purusha-Uththama)
The deeper significance of the name Rāma.
The word 'Rama' has been defined as Ramayatiti Ramah'... that which makes you feel intensely happy.
At the physical level, it is about great good looks as Sri Rama has been described as 'Pumsam Mohanarupaya' one whose looks can captivate even men!
Then at the level of Manas it is that name and form - the more you dwell on them, the more you remain dwelling on them.. It is the name that makes the Mind (Manas) which is usually fickle (Chanchala) and keeps wandering (compared to a monkey), firm and constant, as Hanuman has become.
At the level of Soul, Rama is that name that helps the soul to sail across to the moksha (liberation) for a Bhaktha who serves in unconditional love (like Guhan who took Rama across the river, the first step towards the inner journey of Sita Rama Lakshmana)
Thus, ‘Rama' is synonym for pure bliss.
Vasista Maharshi had taken 'Ra' from Ashtakshari mantra (Om Namo Narayanaya) and 'Ma' from Shiva Panchakshari (Om Namah Shivaya).
Without 'Ra' the word Narayana becomes 'Na ayana' directionless and Namah Shivaya becomes Na Shivaya or inauspicious.
So the letters 'ra' and 'ma' have been considered to be the most important aksharas associated with Narayana and Shiva and thus ‘Rama’ represents the combined power, purity and sacredness of Narayana and Shiva.
Yes. The Sapta Rishis were so enamoured of the personality of Sri Rama that they fell in love with him.
Because of this great love they had towards the Purushottama, they are said to have incarnated as the 7 wives of Krishna during Dvapara yuga, because Rama was eka Patni Vrit.
One Wife, One Word, One Arrow That is the character of Sri Rama.
Rama merged in River Sarayu- (meaning"to flow"; as "air, wind", "that which is streaming") to end the purpose of his Avtar in Treta Yuga, the Second of the Four Yuga Cycle of 4.32 million years.
The entire life of Rama, Sita and their companions allegorically discusses duties, rights and social responsibilities of an individual. It illustrates dharma and dharmic living through model characters.
Invoking the equanimity, elegance,
obedience, obeisance,
discipline, determination,
Dharma and Purpose of Rama Nama !
‘Rama’ is the ceaseless ‘sound wave’ that resonates the universe through its ages and cycles.
Blessed Sri Rama Navami !
